SSC GD Constable: photo and signature guide

The GD Constable 2026 notice (CEN, paragraphs 8.4 to 8.7) designs the form to capture a real-time photo and asks for a scanned JPEG signature of 10-20 KB.

Official size and format

PhotographReal-time capture during the application: good light, plain background, camera at eye level, full frontal face inside the marked area, no cap, mask or spectacles. Capturing a photo of an old photo leads to rejection.

SignatureJPEG, 10-20 KB, about 6.0 cm x 2.0 cm. Blurred or miniature signatures are rejected.

Aadhaar optionWith Aadhaar based authentication in OTR, the form is not rejected on photo or signature grounds, per paragraph 8.3.

How to prepare the files with PDF Saathi Hub

Sign with a black pen inside a box on white paper and scan or photograph it straight in good light.
Crop only the signature in the Photo Editor.
In Photo / Sign KB, set 10 KB minimum and 20 KB maximum (or use the SSC sign preset) and download the JPEG.
Complete One-Time Registration on ssc.gov.in, then apply through the website or the mySSC app and capture the live photo when asked.

Your appearance at the exam must match the captured photo. Do not wear a cap or spectacles in the capture, and do not capture a pre-existing photograph.

Note for 2026: applications work only with One-Time Registration done on the new ssc.gov.in website. Registrations made on the old ssc.nic.in website are not valid there, per paragraph 8.1 of the notice.
