Signature size 3.5 cm x 1.5 cm in pixels

Some forms give the signature size in centimetres, while the upload screen counts pixels. This page converts 3.5 cm x 1.5 cm to pixels and shows how to resize your signature to it. The numbers depend on the dots per inch (dpi) you assume.

This is a unit conversion, not an official requirement. We did not find an official exam notice that asks for exactly 3.5 x 1.5 cm. Always use the size, pixel range and KB range printed on your own form.

The conversion

Pixels = centimetres divided by 2.54, multiplied by dpi. At 3.5 cm and 300 dpi that is 3.5 / 2.54 x 300 = 413 pixels.

96 dpi132 px57 px
150 dpi207 px89 px
200 dpi276 px118 px

A scanner or phone scan has no fixed dpi unless you set it, so a pixel range on the form always wins over a centimetre size.

Official examples of how forms state it

These differ from each other and from 3.5 x 1.5 cm, which is why copying a size from another exam can get a form rejected.

Step by step: resize your signature

  1. Sign with a black or dark blue pen on plain white paper, inside a box, and fill most of the box. SSC says very small signatures are a common reason for rejection.
  2. Photograph or scan it in good light, then crop close to the signature in the Photo Editor.
  3. Open Photo & Signature Resizer, select the file and enter the width and height in pixels from your form.
  4. Enter the minimum and maximum KB if your form lists them, then create the JPEG and check the size shown.
  5. Open the downloaded file and make sure the signature is clear and not stretched. If the frame has a different shape from your crop, white bars are added, so crop to the same shape first.

Frequently asked questions

How many pixels is 3.5 cm x 1.5 cm?

It depends on dpi. For example 132 x 57 pixels at 96 dpi and 413 x 177 pixels at 300 dpi.

Which dpi should I use?

Use the pixel size on your form if it gives one. If it only gives centimetres, 300 dpi is a common scan setting, but the portal decides.

Will the resizer stretch my signature?

If you set both width and height, the tool fits the photo inside that frame and fills empty space with white, so the proportions are kept.
