Image format converter: HEIC to JPG, PNG, WebP and more

Photo Format Converter is a free image converter that changes a photo from one format to another - for example HEIC to JPG for an upload form, PNG to WebP for a website, or JPG to PNG to keep transparency. Convert one photo or a batch of up to 20. Everything runs in your browser, so your photos are not uploaded anywhere.

Supported formats and limits

Import JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP, plus HEIC/HEIF and TIFF through local decoders. AVIF import needs your browser's decoder. Export JPG, PNG, WebP, still GIF, BMP and TIFF. AVIF export is available only if this browser can encode it. HEIC/HEIF export is not available.

Animated GIFs, multi-page TIFFs and HEIC bursts use the first image only. Converted files do not keep EXIF metadata or animation. JPG, BMP and GIF use a white background; PNG, WebP and TIFF can keep transparency. GIF uses 256 colors, so gradients may look different.

Up to 20 photos per batch. Each photo must be under 30 MB and 16 megapixels, with up to 60 megapixels across the batch. A smaller longest edge never enlarges the original. Exact KB size is not guaranteed. Large uncompressed BMP/TIFF files may be bigger than the original.

Choosing the right output format

JPG is the safe pick for form uploads and sharing: small files, accepted almost everywhere. PNG keeps sharp edges on screenshots and text and can keep a transparent background. WebP makes small files for websites. Use TIFF only when a print shop or office specifically asks for it.

Size and quality tips

Converting to JPG with a smaller size setting reduces KB, but going too low makes faces and text look blocky; zoom into the result once before using it. Converting never adds detail, so a blurry original stays blurry. If a portal asks for a strict KB limit, convert first and then check the actual file size.

Batch tips

You can convert up to 20 photos in one go with the same settings, so group photos that need the same format and size. Check each preview before converting, and download either single files or everything as one ZIP.

How to convert photos
  1. Select photos and check each preview.
  2. Choose the output format, size and rotation.
  3. Convert, then download each result or all results in one ZIP.
Why did my transparent background turn white?

JPG, BMP and GIF do not support transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white. Export as PNG, WebP or TIFF to keep transparency.

Will the converted photo keep its date and camera details?

No. EXIF metadata such as date, camera and location is not carried into the converted file.
